Last week I was outside weeding and trying to make my house look lived in! I had grass that had grown literally four to six inches higher than it should be along the edge of my porch! It's growing like crazy right now! I decided that it would be easier to pull out a two inch section of grass away from the porch rather than just weed eating it the entire summer season. Along one edge of the porch I had just barley picked up a huge mound of dirt and grass when along came a HUGE black widow right where I had just placed my bare fingers!!!! I didn't waist anytime...I killed that sucker with my shovel. Nothing gives me the chills more than black widows!!! To make matters worse in the next section of grass that I was just about to pick up I noticed another spider mingled in the grass! I almost picked that one up too!!! I smashed that one with my shovel too and couldn't finish my weed pulling project for the rest of the day. I have decided that I need to wear gloves the next time I do that.

This whole experience reminded me of when I lived in Manti. Our house was just adorable however it was over a hundred years old and not as well insulated as homes are today. One day I walked into my bathroom and a HUGE black widow decided that my SINK would be a nice place to make a web!!!! really my SINK! I was just creeped out beyond belief because I very easily could have not turned on the light and stuck my hands in the sink to wash up. We got the house sprayed very quickly after that!
AHH, this seriously gave me the chills, but Em, I thought you loved spiders . . .
ReplyDeleteI do except black widows!!
ReplyDeleteWe have had problems with black widows here in Santaquin. So gross. I hate going downstairs into our basement rooms and see them outside in the widow wells.... yuck yuck yuck...
